The 3 Day Diet plan began in 1985 and was initially considered a fad diet. However, copies of the original diet plan are still available online and people still continue to use the plan for fast weight loss, lower cholesterol, higher energy, and toxin cleansing.
There are no published reports that provide scientific studies proving the science behind this unique diet plan, which claims a unique metabolic reaction is behind the weight loss.
What is apparent from dieters who have used the 3 Day Diet program is that it appears to work quickly! |

The 3 Day Diet: A Fad That ContinuesThe diet program must be followed precisely for three days at a time. The person wishing to control their weight then returns to eating normally for four or five. After a period of normal eating, the person can again go through a three day period of dieting using the rules of the three day plan.
People who have used this diet program have lost as much as 10 pounds in only three days. Some of the weight loss is fat but a portion of the weight is from loss of fluid. This can be a great diet plan for kick-starting a lifestyle change including exercise and healthy eating habits.
3 Day Diet Food ChoicesThe 3 Day Diet requires that a person strictly follow the specified food plan. Portions of each food must be eaten exactly as defined and the dieter must not overeat if they wish to lose as much as 10 pounds in three days. On the other hand, dieters must also not under-eat or the diet plan may not provide the desired weight loss.
On the first of the three days, the dieter must have for breakfast a cup of black coffee or tea with 1 or 2 packages of non-calorie sweetener, 1/2 a grapefruit or the juice from the fruit, and a piece of toast with one tablespoon of peanut butter. The first day’s lunch consists of 1/2 cup of tuna fish, a piece of toast, and a cup of black coffee or tea with no-calorie sweetener. Dinner on the first day consists of 3 ounces of any lean meat or chicken, a cup of green beans, a cup of carrots, an apple, and a cup of regular vanilla ice cream (not sugar-free or low fat).
Day two begins with a breakfast of black coffee or tea with non-caloric sweetener, an egg, 1/2 a banana, and a piece of toast. Lunch is made up of one cup of cottage cheese or tuna fish (but not both), and eight saltine crackers. Dinner consists of two beef frankfurters, a cup of broccoli or cabbage, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/2 banana, and 1/2 cup of regular vanilla ice cream.
On day three, breakfast is made up of black coffee or tea with no-calorie sweetener, five saltine crackers, an ounce of cheddar cheese, and one apple. Lunch time allows a boiled egg, a piece of toast, and black coffee or tea with no-calorie sweetener. Dinner is made up of a cup each of tuna fish, carrots, cauliflower, and melon, plus 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream.
Each day of the 3 Day Diet, a person must drink at least four cups of water or calorie-free drinks.
More Information
If you are interested in seeing different variations of the diet, you can find free 3 day diet plan information online. Variations may include changing a fruit or vegetable if you have an allergic reaction.
Remember that this diet is not meant for everyone and should not be considered a long-term solution for weight loss. Most doctors would recommend that fast weight loss, such as this, is not entirely healthy, which is the reason the diet has long been considered a fad.
